Oxford United have issued travel advice for fans attending Tuesday night's League One fixture against Wigan Athletic at the Kassam Stadium. The club has warned of significant delays due to roadworks and urged supporters to plan their journeys in advance.

Traffic delays expected

Roadworks with temporary traffic lights are in place on Watlington Road at the roundabout with Grenoble Road, causing considerable hold-ups. The club said diversions will continue to operate on the Grenoble Road roundabouts after the final whistle to help manage the exit of traffic. Supporters are advised to avoid the Watlington Road area if possible and to allow extra time for travel both to and from the match. There are no changes to the usual matchday travel arrangements and no road closures planned.

"Please plan your journey in advance and allow extra time when travelling to and from the stadium," the club stated. The advice applies to both home and away fans, with Wigan Athletic supporters also encouraged to consider alternative routes to bypass the affected zone.

The match comes at a busy period in Oxford United's fixtures. Des Buckingham's side, currently 10th in League One, are looking to build momentum after a mixed start to the season that has seen them win four, draw three, and lose four of their opening eleven games. They sit just three points outside the playoff positions. Their next outing after the Wigan game is a trip to face Blackpool on Saturday.

Tuesday's opponents, Wigan Athletic, arrive in 15th place, having collected 14 points from their first 12 matches. The Latics have struggled for consistency on the road, winning just one of their six away league games so far. Oxford will be aiming to improve their own home form, having taken eight points from five matches at the Kassam Stadium this campaign. The club's travel update aims to ensure a smooth arrival for all fans ahead of the 7:45pm kick-off.
