Oxford United secure North Alabama talent

Oxford United Women announced on 5 February 2026 that they have signed Alice Bussey, a former standout from the University of North Alabama. Bussey, who spent six years playing in the United States, will return to her home country just over two hours from her hometown of Hythe, England.

Bussey’s credentials

During the 2025 season with North Alabama, Bussey logged 1,224 minutes across 19 matches and led her team in goals. She recorded 39 shots, 27 of which were on target, earning her recognition as one of the nation’s top scorers. Her performance earned her multiple All-ASUN selections and placement on prestigious watch lists.

Joining a familiar face

Bussey will be reunited on the pitch with former Lion Kate Wiseman, who joined Oxford United ahead of the 2023-24 season. Wiseman’s experience in the club will provide a familiar environment for Bussey as she transitions back to English football.

Coach’s confidence

Head coach Chris Walker praised Bussey’s accomplishments and expressed confidence in her ability to succeed at the next level. With this signing, Bussey becomes the eighth player from Walker’s North Alabama program to turn professional, further solidifying the pathway for future athletes.

Looking ahead

Bussey expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, highlighting Oxford United’s current momentum and her excitement to reunite with Wiseman. She is ready to bring her professional ambitions to the Women’s Super League and make an impact in the English football scene.
