Oxford United's Matt Bloomfield revealed a double injury blow ahead of their visit to Stoke City. Both Jamie McDonnell and Brodie Spencer are set to miss out due to ankle injuries.

What happened?

Bloomfield said: “He’s [McDonnell] gone for a scan today, so we’ll see the news of that. Spencer again has gone for a scan on his ankle.”

Why it matters for Oxford United

The injuries add to Oxford United's woes, with Tyler Goodrham, Nik Prelec and Brian De Keersmaecker already out with their respective injuries.

Jin-Woo Jeon is expected to start again but Bloomfield admitted it will be unlikely that he plays the full match due to his fitness levels. Bloomfield said: “We have to be patient with him because he’s not match fit, he’s starting games and tiring so we have to bring him off.”

What comes next?

Oxford United are winless in their last six matches but managed a draw against Middlesbrough in their last game. Bloomfield said: “We’re definitely getting closer, the boys are getting closer to looking like the team that we want to be.”
