Oxford United has announced that head of recruitment Scott Mitchell will leave the club with immediate effect. Mitchell joined the Yellows in November 2024 and is now moving to Leyton Orient to take on the role of director of football. Ed Waldron, head of football operations at Oxford United, said: “I’d like to extend my thanks to Scott for all his hard work and dedication over the past 18 months. He has made a significant and valuable contribution to our recruitment team and we wish him all the best in his new role at Leyton Orient.” This comes ahead of the summer transfer window which opens for League One clubs on Monday June 15. Previously Mr Mitchell was linked with Newcastle United but those links have not come to fruition. He began his career as an academy coach for Ipswich Town and worked his way up the ranks with the Tractor Boys over the course of 12 years. The former Ipswich coach has worked for The Yellows during three transfer windows in the Championship, seeing the club secure survival last season before their unfortunate relegation a month ago.
