Oxford United Women have signed left-back Maddie Brant from Lewes.
What happened?
Maddie Brant joins the U's following two seasons at fellow WNL Southern Premier Division side Lewes, where she was club captain.
She made 23 appearances throughout the 2025/26 season to help Lewes to a fifth-placed finish. Maddie spent five years in Chelsea's academy, before moving to the United States in 2019 to play college football alongside her studies in sports science and neuroscience.
Why it matters for Oxford United
Maddie becomes Liam Gilbert's second summer signing, following the arrival of Sophie Quirk. She will link up with her new teammates next week as Oxford United Women begin pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Current context
| Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | League standing | 22nd in Championship, 47 pts, 11W-14D-21L from 46 games | | Recent form | LWLLW | | Next fixture | vs Aldershot Town (away, 2026-07-21) | Maddie is a versatile and attacking defender who can play left centre-back, but left-back is where she feels best suited. She loves being an attacking full-back but also enjoys the gritty, defensive side of it too.
What comes next?
Maddie will be looking to make an impact in the upcoming season, and her experience in the WNL Southern Premier Division will be valuable to the team. As Oxford United Women prepare for the new season, they will be hoping to improve on their recent form, which has seen them lose their last two games. The signing of Maddie Brant is a positive step forward for the team, and they will be looking to build on this momentum in the coming weeks.
